Details for the long-awaited 14-month closure of Dalehouse Lane have been confirmed.

The busy road is due to shut for HS2 works this spring.

HS2 has confirmed it will close from Tuesday 7 April 2026 until Monday 7 June 2027.

"We need to close Dalehouse Lane to construct the new overbridge that will raise over the HS2 railway," the notice said.

"There will be increased construction activity during the closure and you will experience some disruption to your travel times.

"Please plan ahead to avoid delays to your journey."

Design details for the 50-metre bridge for Dalehouse Lane have already been approved.

HS2 is sheer vandalism. All roads around our area being closed for months. Balsall common is all but closed off Kenilworth the same. If you go past you rarely see a lot of blokes working. Looking at the various bridges they are putting in the railway line will be like a switchback. Hundreds of trees cut down , some without need. Who will use the wretched train at extra cost for 15 minutes. Total waste of the country’s money. Funds should have been used to upgrade the current line. You can get a train from Coventry to London in just over an hour now so who needs quicker than that.

HS2 jobs for life. A year to put a bridge in. It would be funny if it didn't disrupt so many people's lives. 30-40 year construction project, all to lop 15 minutes off the Birmingham to London journey time.
