Kenilworth Castle safe crossing remains on track after passing safety checks

Town councillors have said the "long-overdue" crossing to Kenilworth Castle remains "on track".
Locals were this month given the chance to find out more about Kenilworth Town Council's plans for Castle Road at a public information event.
Councillors were pleased with the attendance and have also had an update on English Heritage - which manages the castle - on the next steps for the project.
"The crossing has gone through an independent safety audit which has shown it is safe there," Cllr Alan Chalmers said at last week's council meeting.
"The next stage is to get everything going is to get the paths to the castle from the crossing itself."
He added: "With a bit of luck, if all goes well, this time next year we might have a safe crossing that goes to the castle."
The town council has already approved a £17,000 grant to English Heritage to help with the footpath works. This money is from the council's CIL budget - money taken from local housing developers.
A public consultation was previously held on the preferred spot for the crossing.
The decided spot was tweaked slightly earlier this year, due to "root protection issues".
The crossing to the castle had been included as a priority in the neighbourhood plan approved in 2018.
