Kenilworth air cadets remain uncertain about their future, with their current headquarters likely to be turned into houses.

Kenilworth and Balsall Common's 496 Squadron is currently based at leased premises at Kenilworth School's Leyes Lane site, but are still waiting to find out where they will meet when the school moves to Glasshouse Lane this September.

Local Liberal Democrats had already called for answers from Warwick District Council, as the local authority announced more information events about the housing estates that will be built on the current school sites.

And speaking at last week's full council meeting, Cllr Richard Dickson asked for more information.

"Can there please be an update as to what facilities will be provided to the air cadets?" he asked.

"Will they get like-for-like facilities or will they have to look elsewhere?"

"The school is opening in just under six months time and as it stands they don't know what is happening. It would help them to plan," he added.

Leader of the council Cllr Andrew Day said no firm decisions had been made yet.

"Kenilworth School is in discussion presently with the cadets, so there is an information exchange going on," he added.

"And as soon as arrangements have been concluded between the school and the cadets, I will be advised and I will make sure you are advised."
