HS2 reveals design for Dalehouse Lane bridge which will see road closed for over a year
HS2 has revealed designs for a new bridge which will carry Dalehouse Lane over the new rail line.
The works, which will cause the road into Kenilworth closed for up to 14 months, will eventually see a three-span overbridge built.
A three-metre wide cycleway will also be integrated into the structure.
The HS2 Act decrees the bridge will be built, with Warwick District Council only able to comment on certain aspects of the design.
"The works submitted for approval comprise a three-span highway overbridge of length 50.6m and width of 12.5m, and earthworks to create highways approach embankments either side of the overbridge of a width of approximately 14.3m," a planning application to the local council said.
"The proposed approach embankments are to be steep-sloped reinforced earthworks.
"The landscape earthworks are proposed for landscape integration and abut the approach embankments on the southern side of the proposed overbridge either side of the HS2 tracks."
Plans show on the western side of the bridge the earthworks will be 94 metres long and 1.8 metres high.
On the other side they will be 118 metres long and 1.2 metres high.
The major closure of Dalehouse Lane is not expected until early 2025, but a shorter closure is due to start later this month for preparatory works.
