English Heritage's popular Knights' Tournament will be returning to Kenilworth Castle this August bank holiday weekend.

After a summer filled with medieval-inspired activities for families at the castle, including sword school and junior jousting, professional historical performers will take over for three days to show off their expert skills and wow the crowds.

Each knight will be kitted up in armour by their trusty squire and tested in four gruelling rounds of combat, including sword-fighting and archery.

There will be a chance to meet the knights, ask them questions and even pose for selfie. After visitors choose their champion, they can follow their progress through the day, ending in the Grand Melee final where all knights and squires battle against each other.

Alongside this there will be shows and music in the grounds of the castle to immerse visitors in Middle Ages.

Ella Harrison, events manager at English Heritage said: "Our Knights' Tournament is a great way to round off your school holidays with an entertaining day out for children and grown-ups alike.

"Visitors love cheering on their favourite knights and talking to our reenactors about their kit, weaponry, and tactics. We can't wait to see which knight emerges victorious."

The Knights' Tournament takes place between Saturday 24 – Monday 26 August 2024.
