Green light for new defibrillator to be installed in Kenilworth

Council planners have given the green light for a new defibrillator to be installed in Kenilworth.
Warwick District Council has granted listed building consent for the machine to be installed at The Stables opposite Kenilworth Castle.
Kenilworth HeartSafe put forward the plans earlier this year, asking for the defibrillator to be installed on the office building on Castle Hill.
The application explained: "Kenilworth HeartSafe is seeking to locate 24/7 publicly accessible defibrillators within all areas of significant footfall in the Kenilworth community - alongside their plans to train as many members of the public as possible in the skills of cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
"They have identified the Castle Hill area as a prime location given the many visitors to Kenilworth Castle; the surrounding footpaths; and the location of many pubs/cafes/restaurants.
"The Stables is a very accessible location in the centre of this busy area where the defibrillator would be easily seen and they have identified a "host" willing to take on responsibility for the defibrillator on the wall of his building."
In September last year a new defibrillator was installed at Kenilworth Library after the 33rd was installed at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash and Croquet Club in June.
Signing off on the application, a council report said: "There will be a very minor visual impact from the proposed defibrillator but it is felt that any less than substantial harm from the installation of this will be greatly outweighed by the public benefit of the provision of life saving medical equipment.
"The application is therefore recommended for approval."
