Council planners have given the green light for a 55.6 metre-long bridge to carry a Kenilworth footpath over the HS2 line.

Designs submitted to Warwick District Council show the three-span bridge will carry public right of way W164 over the new rail link near Crackley Woods.

The bridge will be built from five precast concrete beams and a concrete deck above.

The bridge will be six metres wide and a series of earthworks will be needed on either side to install the bridge and for the realigned footpaths W184 and W165x.

HS2 has already announced a year of disruption to the two rights of way.

Both footpaths connect to the Kenilworth Greenway and head north towards Coventry.

Designs for the bridge had previously been approved but have now been updated.

The HS2 Act decreed the bridge would be built, with Warwick District Council only able to comment on certain aspects of the design.
