The hoardings in Abbey Fields have been given a fresh new look by local artists.

Brink Contemporary Arts has created a unique mural around the demolished swimming pool site, bringing a splash of colour to the town-centre park.

The installation is intended to bring attention to the obscured entrance to the children's playground and to brighten up the area.

The mural includes colourful animals including a swan, fox and badger, all anthropomorphised in human clothing.

Brink curator Tim Robottom - who grew up in Kenilworth - was approached by Warwick District Council's green spaces team to produce the new look for the hoardings.

"The site-specific artwork features animals that have been turned into original characters with different costumes that appear to be taking part in a serious discussion," Brink said.

"The intention of the installation is to draw attention to the obscured entrance to the children's playground and also to brighten the area with light-hearted creature characters."

More than 1,000 local residents including dozens of school children went to see the archaeological remains discovered at Abbey Fields last week.
