Kenilworth locals have been told to be wary of "bogus" callers following a report of an incident in the town this morning (October 10).

Police said three men wearing high-vis jackets cold called at a local house saying they wanted to read the gas meter.

After being challenged they "made their excuses and left".

A Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police statement said: "Please be mindful of bogus callers to your address.

"If anyone cold calls your address wanting to read gas/electric or water please contact your supplier to confirm if engineers are in the area and confirm identity.

"If an emergency please do not hesitate to call 999."
