Future of land formerly used for controversial Kenilworth events bar still to be decided

The future of a piece of land previously home a controversial events bar in Kenilworth remains undecided.
'Castle Pavilion' next to Kenilworth Castle was bought by English Heritage in 2023, but remains unused.
The land - which borders Kenilworth Castle - had been home to Garden Bar at the Pavilion before Warwick District Council (WDC) was successful in a legal bid to make it harder for events to be held there.
Two years after the purchase, Nub News understands still no decision has been made on its future by the charity.

Locals have speculated the five acre plot will become an overflow car park.
The charity, which manages the castle, admitted when it bought the Pavilions it did not have a "specific plan for its use yet".
Matt Bulford, head of historic properties for English Heritage in Warwickshire, said at the time English Heritage "wanted to secure this vital link between the castle and the town".
"Kenilworth Castle has a privileged position at the heart of this community, and we are committed to working together as plans for its future progress," he added.
"We will, of course, be keeping local residents involved and informed along the way."
English Heritage did not confirm how much the land was purchased for in 2023, but property agent Godfrey Payton was advertising it for offers over £250,000.
