A Kenilworth fundraiser has swapped cuttings of a money plant for cash donations in aid of Warwick District Foodbank and the Kenilworth Centre (tKC).
May Lau has used the donations from local businesses to buy food and sanitary products to give to the two local charities.
Synonymous with prosperity, May has used the money plant cuttings to bring good fortune to local businesses and the two local causes alike.
Having contacted the foodbank and tKC at the beginning of June to see what they needed, May began approaching local businesses for donations. She received food and hygiene product donations as well as money which she used to buy more items.
Sanitary products have been given to the centre, and items listed on the foodbank's 'most needed items' list for July were also purchased.

Speaking to Kenilworth Nub News May said: "Originally I had money plants in my flat. They grew really well and I needed to prune them so I started cutting, and before I know it I have 35 cuttings.
"So because money plants are associated with good luck and prosperity I thought maybe businesses would like it and then I just thought who else needs some good fortune in the community."
May has received donations from The Pack Smart Group, A World of Ceramic Tiles, Buildbase Kenilworth and hypnotherapy and mindfulness coach Denise Cole. The money raised has been used to buy over 130 items for the two causes.
When asked why she chose to support the Kenilworth Centre and the foodbank, May said: "What I have done there is given to people who clearly need something specific. With some of the bigger charities you don't always get that instant feedback that you are really helping people. So this has been really rewarding."
Having previously supported the Barnado's centre in Kenilworth, and a volunteer with the Covid-19 Support Kenilworth Group, May's fundraising is not yet over.
She has started approaching more businesses today (July 19) and has already swapped her first plant. She is also asking local residents to get in touch if they would like a money plant cutting in exchange for donations.
Residents in the Kenilworth, Warwick and Leamington areas can contact May on 07983 338708 to make a donation.
