First glimpse at Kenilworth's augmented reality project

Locals have been given a first glimpse of how Kenilworth's ground-breaking augmented reality project will look.
The major project - launched by Kenilworth Town Council - will allow locals to use their mobile phones in Abbey Fields to see how the Augustinian abbey would have looked in the 16th century.
As previously reported by Nub News, the 'Kenilworth Revealed' application will allow guests to use their smartphones or tablets to "unlock a vivid reconstruction of the abbey's storied past", witnessing its "architectural grandeur", the daily lives of its residents, and pivotal moments in history.
An update presented at the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting gave a sneak peek at some of the graphics, as well as the filming for the project.
Kenilworth's MP Sir Jeremy Wright has featured in the clips alongside councillors, council staff and local children.
Testing of the application is expected in the autumn as the council looks to launch it in November.
"The Kenilworth Revealed project continues to make good progress," Cllr Alan Chalmers said.
"The exterior models of the Abbey have been finalised and work on the interiors is nearly complete."
A 'matching game' is also being designed to allow users to match a 'medieval logo' to the names of real local shops.

Plans to install 'augmented reality binoculars' in Abbey Fields have also been scrapped, with the money instead due to be used to create a view of the castle from the abbey in the application.
Kenilworth Revealed has benefited from a grant of £98,500 from the HS2 Business & Local Economy Fund.
Once complete, the technology will allow guests to see, not only the Abbey in 1500, but also the canons and Kenilworth townsfolk going about their daily tasks both within and outside the Abbey walls.
This project is a collaboration between Kenilworth Town Council, Warwick District Council, English Heritage, Kenilworth Historic and Archaeological Society, Friends of Abbey Fields, Kenilworth Abbey Advisory Group, and Harry Sunley Memorial Project.
