'Good progress' on crossing to Kenilworth Castle with provisional timeline revealed

The new crossing to Kenilworth Castle will take a year to install once the plans and funding are all signed off.
Kenilworth Town Council has been working on the link to the town's main tourist attraction over a number of months, running a public consultation earlier this year on the scheme.
A preferred location - near the ford on Castle Road - has been chosen and an application for funding put forward.
English Heritage will sort the paths from the crossing to the castle and has already had permission for a series of tree works in the area approved by Warwick District Council.
At the most recent town council meeting, Cllr Alan Chalmers provided an update.
"There has been good progress, thanks mainly to the town clerk," he said.
"WCC officers have a design for the crossing, and it has gone through planning to have the trees looked at."
He added: "Once it has all been approved it could take up to a year."
The crossing to the castle had been included as a priority in the neighbourhood plan approved in 2018.
Councillors joked the crossing could be in place for the Boxing Day Duck Race in 2026.
"Well done to the task and finish group for bringing that forward," Cllr James Kennedy said.
"It's very good news for something that has been on our agenda for much longer than most of us have been here. That is very good."
