Kenilworth fire crews were called to a conservatory fire at 9pm last night (July 12) which was started by an incinerator bin being used too close to some decking.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread to the rest of the house.

It was the second conservatory fire in the same day.

A Kenilworth Fire Station spokesperson said: "This was an accidental fire caused by an incinerator bin being burnt too close to decking.

"Thankfully the quick actions of the occupier prevented the fire spreading into the property.

"Fire crews cut away the decking to check for any hidden fire spread and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke.

"As weather warnings for extreme heat are in place as we head towards the weekend, we advise not to have any garden bonfires and keep BBQ's away from any combustible materials such as fences, sheds, grass and trees."

Local firefighters have reported an upturn in the number of fires in the last week as a result of the hot weather.

Crews were called to a vehicle fire on the M40 on Monday which had spread to the embankment.

And on Sunday firefighters rushed to a hedge fire in Kenilworth.

Kenilworth firefighters have issued a warning to residents as the hot weather is set to continue this weekend
