Kenilworth firefighters have been called to a car fire on the M40 which had spread to the nearby grass embankment today (July 12).

Crews were called to the scene at around 2pm this afternoon having just been covering in Henley-in-Arden.

Today's callout comes after a series of fires caused by the hot weather during the weekend.

Kenilworth crews have been called out five times in the past two days, rushing to a garden fire on Winn Close and a one and a half acre grass fire near Rowington yesterday.

Firefighters from Leamington Spa were also called to a hedge fire in Kenilworth on Sunday.

A Kenilworth Fire Station spokesperson said: "The fire service are extremely busy with the dry weather, please be careful if you are out and about or in your garden to ensure you do not accidentally cause a fire.

"Grass and garden fires spread quickly in this weather."
