Expansion of Kenilworth primary school delayed further as new planning application needed

The expansion of a Kenilworth primary school looks set to be delayed by another two years as another planning application is needed.
Warwickshire County Council has already signed off on a £6 million budget to create 200 extra places at St John's Primary School and Nursery, with the project due to be finished last year.
This had already been pushed back to September 2025 but more delays have hit the project.
The council's website now says the project is due for completion in July 2027.
Responding to a request from Nub News, the local authority said: "The St John's Primary scheme encountered a delay at the planning stage.
"Following discussions with statutory consultees, a revised planning application is due to be submitted within the coming months."

In December Nub News reported surveys of the local roads were needed before the planning application for the project was determined.
Councillors were also told there was no guarantee the costs would not rise.
Eventually the scheme - which has already had a public consultation - will see the 200 extra places filled over the next seven years.
The original planning application would have seen three major extensions built at the Mortimer Road school to make it two-form entry as the number of students doubled.
The development also plans to make space for up to 14 places for children with education, health and care plans (EHCPs) who can be catered for in a mainstream school.
