Garden makeover for Kenilworth day centre

Waverley day centre has enhanced it's garden space for the benefit of its clients, ensuring they have a "safe and engaging space to enjoy our warm summer days".
The garden makeover was made possible by the "generous donations" from groups in the town including, Kenilworth Town Council, Kenilworth Rotary Club, Kenilworth Round Table, a donation from Cllr Alan Chalmers - with Waverley being his chosen Mayoral Charity - and funds raised directly by the Trustees of Waverley.
Sue LaVerne Chair of the Trustee Board said: "We are grateful to have received such generous donations which has made it possible for us to create a wonderful outdoor space for our clients."
The garden creates a natural, low-maintenance space with a non-slip patio and raised beds for planting.

"Being outside benefits the clients in so many ways, including exposure to Vitamin D, increased mobility and the stimulation from sensory experiences," the Waverley team said.
The team at Waverley is now looking forward to creating a kitchen garden and establishing the raised beds to encourage pollinators which are vital to the environment.
Kate Sweet - Manager at Waverley - would be "delighted" to accept donations from local businesses or gardening groups of herb plants which will also be used in the garden, colourful annual plants to attract pollinators and provide visual stimulation, climbing plants, insect houses, bird bath and bird table for clients to observe the wildlife in the garden and garden artwork to decorate the side of the shed.

Kate said: "Our clients are keen to get going and bring the new garden to life.
"If any local business or group is able to support us, I know the clients will be so grateful."

Waverley has been providing food and friendship to older citizens in Kenilworth for over 40 years.

Originally launched as a lunch club in the 1980's, Waverley has grown over the decades and is now a place where the elderly can come and relax, socialise with others, and even take part in a range of stimulating activities.
Open from mid-morning to 3.30pm Tuesday to Friday, the centre offers guests a warm welcome and an alternative for those who may otherwise be forced to stay at home alone for most of the week.
Waverley day centre sponsors Kenilworth Nub News.
Without community-minded partners like them, we would not be able to provide clickbait-free news to the people of Kenilworth.
