A land promoter has revealed plans for a major new estate on the edge of Kenilworth.

Richborough has informed residents around Rouncil Lane of its plans for the new development which would be built on farmland behind the former Kenilworth School sixth form site.

The company's website states the estate could have up to 175 new homes.

It said: "We are promoting this 27-acre site to bring much-needed new homes to Kenilworth.

"It could cater for up 175 new homes including 40 per cent affordable.

"We'd ensure new vehicular and pedestrian access as well as bring a new focal green space with nature play trail and pedestrian links to local allotments and green space."

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Warwick District Council in the spring.

Drop-in information sessions will be held before the application is submitted.

There will then be a formal consultation once the application is submitted.

Local councillors have questioned whether local services including the NHS and schools can cope with another housing estate in the town.

Traffic concerns have also been raised.
