Detailed plans to build 620 new houses in Kenilworth look set to be given the green light next week.

Outline planning permission for the Glasshouse Lane estate and primary school was granted by Warwick District Council in April 2021.

The whole estate is part of a £60 million investment from WDC with the development being put through by the council's housing company Milverton Homes and new partners Vistry Linden.

The site will include 248 affordable homes for WDC built to zero carbon and 'national development space' standards.

A further 62 houses to be built for renting by Milverton Homes.

And a report that is set to be considered by the council's planning committee on Wednesday (November 9) has recommended that the reserved matters application be approved.

The report said: "Officers consider the proposed development would provide a high quality residential environment in accordance with the garden suburbs principles, including an appropriate mix of market and affordable housing and acceptable dwelling house and layout design solutions, including landscaping and public open space.

"There would be no harm arising in terms of neighbour amenity, highway safety or ecology and as such it is considered the scheme therefore complies with the policies listed.

"Accordingly officers recommend that the reserved matters be approved."

The report adds: "Overall, I consider that the proposed design and layout would result in an appropriate form of development in visual terms and would not give rise to any harm to the general character of the area."

While the detailed plans for the rest of the estate are yet to be signed off, work has already begun on five showhomes and a sales office for the 'Stoneleigh View' estate.

The Linden Homes website describes the project as: "An exciting new development of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes coming soon to Kenilworth.

"These stunning new homes are due to launch for sale Winter 2022."
