A Kenilworth charity shop has launched an "urgent" appeal for stock and volunteers.

The Headway shop at The Square is asking local residents to give what they can to help support the brain injury charity - whether its possessions they no longer need, or their time.

Shop manager Julie Mcroy told Nub News: "It's an urgent need, we always need stock.

"We have got a steady flow of customers, and this is one of the reasons we need to keep our stock updated.

"We have a rotation policy where everything is moved on every two weeks.

"So, if that customer keeps seeing the same things it is going to put them off coming, so we need fresh stock coming in to keep the customers.

"It is a busy shop, so if we want people to see new stock, we need to fill up our rails."

Headway is a UK-wide charity that works to improve the lives of people who have suffered brain injuries.

The charity runs a freephone helpline, has an emergency support fund and runs support groups across the nation.

Asked why donations were slowing down Julie said: "Whether it is people who can't afford to give stuff away anymore, with the cost-of-living crisis maybe people are deciding to sell things instead of donating them.

"Maybe they are doing a car boot sale instead to make a bit of money. It's hard to say really."

In particular Headway in Kenilworth is looking for more women's clothing, but also accepts menswear and small electricals and furniture.

And Julie said the store, which is open seven days a week, also needs more volunteer staff to keep it running.

"It's also volunteers that we need, we are very short on volunteers. I haven't got as many as I would like," Julie said.

"They don't need any experience, and it is something people can do in their spare time.

"There are all sorts of jobs to do, not just customer service."

In Warwickshire Headway groups meet at various locations across the month - details of which can be found here.
