Bicycles to hire have been installed on the University of Warwick Campus, adding to the 23 other West Midlands Cycle Hire (WMCH) sites across Coventry.

The new bikes at the university are among 75 new additions announced this week.

It means that students returning from their summer breaks will not only be able to hire bikes for trips around the campus, but also use them for a longer commute to and from the city centre.

Students and residents can also make the most of cheaper fees from today (September 6) as the £1 unlock fee will no longer apply between 6am and 11am. Bikes will now cost just 5p per minute.

Mayor of the West Midlands Andy Street said that the 100,000 journeys that have already taken place proves the success of the bicycles.

"That's why we are now extending the scheme with more bikes and docking stations available throughout Coventry, including on the University of Warwick campus," he said.

"This really is brilliant news, as cycling helps improve people's physical health whilst also encouraging more drivers to leave the car at home and tackling the climate emergency."
