Covid-19 Kenilworth Support thank their volunteers

By James Smith 5th Aug 2021

This week the group Covid-19 Kenilworth Support have offered thanks to their volunteers for all the hard work that they have done supporting the community over the past few months.

On Tuesday, volunteers met on the courts at The Kenilworth Centre to offer out tokens of thanks to the rest of the volunteers who have served their community so well over the past few months.

Volunteers were also interviewed by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire radio who came down to cover the event.

Special awards and commendations have also been delivered to some members of the group.

Darren Rees and Jennifer Jones have both received a message of thanks and a community award as a token of recognition for all the work they did to support others during lockdown.

They have received the title of 'Community Hero' "for stepping up and making things happen. For supporting Kenilworth's most vulnerable during Covid-19 Lockdown."

Cllr Richard Dickson said of the event "It was a privilege to be able to hand out the COVID-19 tokens of appreciation, because I know from talking with local residents what a brilliant job the volunteers have done, often in very difficult personal circumstances too.

"Celebrating on local BBC radio the volunteers' huge contribution to community life in Kenilworth in the past six months was entirely appropriate."
