More double yellow lines could be painted on Kenilworth roads, if plans are signed off by the county council later this week.

Councillors will decide on Friday (April 28) whether the works on Clarendon Road, Glebe Crescent and Elmbank Road are needed.

A Warwickshire County Council report said the local authority has received "multiple" complaints from locals about "obstructive parking" on the streets.

Some locals had called for permitted parking in the three roads, but the report said none of the areas qualified for such a scheme.

"It is acknowledged that these proposals will move the parking elsewhere in the area, however the purpose of the proposals is to move the vehicles to a location that is less obstructive," the report added.

The council said locals were consulted last summer, although only a handful of responses were received.

If approved, the projects will see 10 metres of double yellow lines painted at the junction of Clarendon Road and Glebe Crescent, as well as double yellow lines at various locations along Elmbank Road.

"The restrictions that are proposed along Elmbank Road will prevent parking along at the bends whilst also allowing parking along the straight sections, thereby creating a slowing effect whilst still keeping the corners free from obstructions," the report said.

It added: "It is anticipated that the presence of waiting restrictions would not have a significant adverse effect on air quality, with no predicted increase in traffic volumes or noise levels as a result of the schemes."

Some of the responses to the council's consultation said the double yellow lines will "not solve anything".

WCC will consider schemes for six different roads, including in Leamington Spa and Warwick.
