Kenilworth's new sports centre at Castle Farm is still hoped to be open before Christmas, according to a council report.

Nub News reported last month that the new facility had been hit be "slight delays" and would not be opening in November as planned.

Following the news, Kenilworth Town Council wrote to its district colleagues urging them to make sure the building was ready in time for the festive period.

And a new report - put together by Warwick District Council - says the project is still on track to be completed before the end of 2023.

The latest update is set to be discussed by town councillors on Thursday (October 19).

"The project is now at week 61 of 72," the report says.

"With an estimate of 78 per cent of the project complete.

"Completion for the whole facility has hit some slight delays and is now scheduled for early December 2023.

"The aim is still for the facility to open in December 2023."

The report did not give any more details on what had caused the delays.

The new sports centre is set to include a sports hall, 80 station gym and fitness studios as well as a new base for local scouts and guides.
