New Thai restaurant to open in Kenilworth this November
A Thai restaurant offering fusion dishes is set to open in Kenilworth next month.
'Nur Nur Paradise' will open on Warwick Road this November at the former home of Thai Sarocha which closed earlier this year.
Now run by Lee Wongsalees and Chamtama Nimceam - who were both born in Thailand - the town centre eatery is being completely transformed with a new modern look and menu.
The duo, who met working at Thai food chain Giggling Squid, hope to bring their decades of experience in hospitality together as they go solo for the first time.
"We feel it is now the time to start our own business," she told Nub News.
"We started talking about it in 2015.
"We worked for a big company before and saw how to do things well, but also thought about how we would do things differently."
Since getting the keys in September, they have been working hard to completely renovate the restaurant, with a new bar, seating and decor all being installed.
New signs are also set to be put up in the coming weeks, with Chamtama saying she wants Nur Nur to have a much more contemporary feel.
"We have made a new bar, made more seating space, and added in new decoration," she explained.
"We want people to relax where they are sitting down - in a comfy space.
"We want to do a modern look.
"It was more old fashioned before, but we want people to feel like they are at home and feel relaxed."
Lee said the menu is also taking shape, with their new chef - who also has years of experience - set to put the finishing touches on before the opening.
"We have a picture of Thai food, but we want to add in more combinations with Western dishes," he said.
"We will be doing different food, more fusion.
"We will still do the traditional Thai food, but also English food with a Thai taste.
"We will have more options, lots of fusion."
The new name 'Nur Nur' also promises a lot from the new eatery - roughly translating from Thai as 'delicious'.
And ahead of fully opening to the public the duo are also hoping to host a number of smaller taster evenings, where guests will be invited to come and try some of the dishes and see the new look.
But most of all, the new owners are looking forward to getting to know more local people.
"We looked all around for where to open, but someone recommended Kenilworth to us," Lee added.
"We liked this being in the centre of the town, where people head towards.
"It is also really friendly, a lot of the shop owners have been very nice.
"We are really looking forward to getting to meet more people."
