Warwick District Council have confirmed that all outdoor sporting facilities maintained by the council will close in line with government guidelines.

New restrictions have meant that all grassroots sport must stop from today (November 5) until at least December 2, the earliest date that the second lockdown will stop.

As a result, all football pitches and pavilions managed by the council will close as of today, as will all tennis courts, including the ones at Abbey Fields.

Whilst the parks will remain open, the Council will be suspending all exercise permits for group activities.

Warwick District Council's Portfolio Holder for Culture, Cllr Moira-Ann Grainger commented "It is with utmost regret that the Council has been forced to close these facilities for a second time.

"However, our overwhelming priority has to be the health and safety of all of our residents.

"These measures have been put in place to save lives and protect our NHS and we urge local residents to play their part."

Kenilworth Lido will remain closed, as it has done throughout the lockdown period, despite ongoing efforts from the Restore Kenilworth Lido group.
