Council begins £2m search for AI partner for Warwickshire
By James Smith 1st Jun 2026
Warwickshire County Council has officially launched the search for a new artificial intelligence (AI) partner.
The local authority is inviting applications for a partner to "implement a suite of core, council-wide artificial intelligence (AI) and automation solutions, in line with our 'Digital Strategic Solutions' model."
Shire Hall is advertising for a two-year contract which has a total value of £2.4million, including VAT.
The tender document states the contract would run from 14 September 2026 to 13 September 2028.
It continues: "The partner will implement a mechanism by which WCC clients can access specific tools via WCC's intranet site or other central repository/ hub providing controlled access to AI tools across our services, focusing initially on transcription, automated document generation and report writing, language interpretation and translation, and AI-enabled digital assistant solutions such as chatbots."
The county council currently only has internal approval for a £1 million spend, and would need to have the rest of the funding approved.
The deadline for submissions is June 3 and the decision is expected at the end of July.
