Town councillors are set to ask for answers over "several" outstanding issues in Abbey Fields.

Warwick District Council is yet to confirm its plans for the tennis courts and the duck feeding platform in the town centre park, having now completed the new leisure centre.

Works to restore both were included in the updated planning permission for Abbey Fields Swimming Pool, but were crucially not included in the contract for building the facility signed in 2024.

Now, two months after the pool opened for the first time, Kenilworth Town Council is still waiting to find out what is happening next.

"The pool is being well used but we are aware of several outstanding issues which could be described as part of the project or could be described as outside the project, but were being affected by the development," Cllr Kate Dickson said at the most recent town council meeting.

"Off the top of my head to mention the tennis courts, the duck feeding platform, the fence around the young children's playground which is not there so it is no longer secure.

"There were thoughts of doing something with the Pavilion with Friends of Abbey Fields.

"I do believe there are some of the structural problems within the fields that are awaiting action from the green spaces team."

She added: "I do feel we as a town council are missing out on information that is possibly being shared with other people.

"As stakeholders I think we should write to WDC - we have asked them several times for updates."

The tennis courts have been out of use for several years, having been used as a compound during the construction of the new leisure centre.

Nub News has twice asked the district council for clarity on when the works will be completed, but has received no response.

Cabinet is expected to sign off on the finances for the works before they can start. It is understood this may not be discussed until October.
