Ben Askey was the winner on the day as the country's oldest cyclo-cross returned to Kenilworth on Boxing Day.

Some 95 riders took to the course on Kenilworth Common on Thursday (December 26) as hundreds of spectators lined the course for the annual event.

Groupama FDJ's Askey produced a commanding display and completed the ten laps of the course in 53 minutes and 52 seconds, comfortably ahead of second place Spencer Cordor (55:20).

In the women's category, Kate Eedy delivered a brilliant performance to take the title of First Female, earning cheers from the passionate spectators lining the course.

Gary Brooks (42) was the highest placed finisher for local team Kenilworth Wheelers.

Organised by Coventry Road Club, the 2024 edition marked a major milestone as it was the 70th instalment of the race.

Multiple events were held throughout the day, with younger age groups taking to the course before the main race.

As in previous years, riders started at the centre of the lower common, before heading out onto the roads and up Common Lane.

They were then challenged to navigate the tricky descents through the woods and through the mud.

Joshua Arthur won the under 12's race, completing seven laps of a shorter course in 16 minutes and 9 seconds.
