Free parking will continue to be available to electric vehicle owners in Kenilworth thanks to Warwick District Council.
The council had trialled a free permit scheme for electric vehicle owners in the district during July, with over 1,000 residents taking advantage of it.
Those already in the scheme will have their permits extended until further notice, whilst applications to join will be relaunched soon, the council has confirmed today.
Electric vehicle provision is part of WDC's commitment to become net zero carbon by 2030.
Whilst Kenilworth currently only has four council-owned charging points, all in the Abbey End carpark, more are expected to be built across the district and county soon.
Warwickshire County Council announced last week that it will apply for funding from the government Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) for electric vehicle funding. This will also include money for new technology including lamppost charging points.
