Kenilworth Probus Club No.2
The Kenilworth Probus Club No.2 meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Clarendon Arms where invited speakers give talks on a wide range of topics of interest.
You are cordially invited to attend next Tuesday and listen to the next speaker in our programme. I'm sure the talk will be very interesting.
The next meeting details are as follows:
Location: Clarendon Arms, 44 Castle Hill, Kenilworth, CV8 1NB
Date and Time: Tuesday 8th September 2026 at 10:00 for 10:30am
Speaker: Rick Thompson
Subject: A River Avon Year
A River Avon Year' follows the 88-mile course of 'Shakespeare's Avon' from its source in Naseby through the centre of England until it joins the Severn at Tewkesbury. Month by month the author describes the wildlife along the long-distance footpath called 'Shakespeare's Avon Way' as the seasons change, and the folklore attached to some of the birds, plants and trees to be found in the Avon valley.
The attractive riverside towns all have stories to tell, and the banks of the river have seen many bloody battles that have changed the course of English history and decided who would wear the crown. The author also reflects on the current state of our natural environment – the impacts of climate change, the biodiversity crisis, and the pollution that affects many of Britains rivers. And there are regular references to the plays and poetry of William Shakespeare, the brilliant 'Swan of Avon'.
Guests are welcome to join us for the talk and mingle afterward with members for a coffee, drink or even lunch as part of our social event.
So, if someone you know might be interested in this particular talk, why not bring them along.
