Kenilworth Cricket Club's Sunday Eleven secured a nine-wicket victory over Ashorne with just 10 balls of the match remaining yesterday (April 25).

The game against Ashorne was the last friendly before Kenilworth's Arden Sunday League campaign starts next week.

Kenilworth's teenagers, Shyaan Imam and George Baines both starred with the bat as the pair put on an unbroken second wicket stand of 160 runs in 26 overs yesterday. Together they chased down Ashorne's score of 207 for five to hand victory to the Sunday eleven as the side reached 211 for one with 10 balls of the match remaining.

lmam posted his senior best of 89 (not out) in an impressive innings in which he hit only seven boundaries; the final two being the last two balls of the match.

Baines ably assisted and made an unbeaten 75 himself, also hitting seven boundaries. Imam also shared in an opening stand of 51 with Dan Horner who made 28 before he fell.

None of the seven Ashorne bowlers used could make any breakthrough against the two Kenilworth youngsters. Oldergold with one for 33 was Ashorne's only wicket taker.

Hasselby had hit an impressive 102 with 15 boundaries and a six for the losing side. Green (41 not out) and Howells (31) also helped the Ashorne side reach 207 for five.

Matt Dadswell, Christian Mortlock, Sam Leach and Matt Casey each took a wicket for Kenilworth.

A good all-round performance for Kenilworth but clearly the day belonged to Imam and Baines for their fine performances in the run chase.
