Where would you cut spending in Warwickshire?

Local residents have until November to have their say on where the county council should prioritise its spending.

Warwickshire County Council has launched a public consultation as it prepares its budget for 2027/28.

The consultation gives people who live or work in the county the chance to say how much they think council tax should rise, and where they would prioritise savings across the council.

The local authority says it has made £200 million in savings since 2014 and wants to reduce further "unnecessary costs" and make "better use of assets and technology".

It also said it faces "pressure from rising costs and increasing demand for services" particularly around children's and adult's social care, support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and home to school transport.

Deputy leader, Cllr James Crocker, said: "We have a responsibility to make the best possible use of every pound of public money while continuing to support residents who rely on our services.

"We are already looking closely at our own costs, contracts, assets and ways of working, but it is also important that people across Warwickshire have an opportunity to tell us what matters to them and suggest where we could do things differently.

"The options we face are not straightforward.

"The feedback we receive will be considered alongside our legal duties, service demand, financial information and the funding available as councillors develop the budget proposals for 2027/28."

The survey closes on 1 November 2026.
