Radio Abbey is getting out and about in Kenilworth, bringing live local radio directly to community spaces, businesses and some of the town's best-known locations.

This summer saw the start of a new programme of Radio Abbey Outside Broadcasts, giving local organisations and venues the opportunity to host the station and share what they do with listeners across Kenilworth and beyond.

In August, Radio Abbey broadcast live from Abbey Fields Swimming Pool, followed in September by a live broadcast from Kenilworth Library.

The broadcasts give listeners a chance to hear more about the people, organisations, businesses and attractions that make Kenilworth such a special place, while taking Radio Abbey beyond the studio and right into the heart of the community.

Sarah McCaffrey, station manager at Radio Abbey, said: "Radio Abbey has always been about our community, so it feels like a natural next step to take the station out of the studio and directly to the people, organisations and places that make Kenilworth what it is.

"Our first outside broadcasts have been great fun and have given us an opportunity to shine a light on what is happening locally, while also introducing more people to Radio Abbey. Special thanks to Eddie King and Steve Lee our volunteers who have championed this initiative".

Listeners who missed the first outside broadcasts can catch up via Mixcloud.

The outside broadcast programme continues this autumn and winter.

On Saturday 24 October, Radio Abbey will be broadcasting from Kenilworth Castle, helping to launch Halloween week at the castle.

Then, in December, the station will be heading to The Tree House Bookshop for another special community broadcast.

Radio Abbey would also love to hear from other local businesses, community organisations, venues and places of interest interested in welcoming the station for a future outside broadcast.

More than just a radio station

Radio Abbey and Abbey End Studio provide community radio and recording facilities for Kenilworth, creating opportunities for local people to get involved in broadcasting, share their stories and celebrate what is happening across the town.
