Warwickshire fuel supplier to support region's agriculture industry in wake of shortages and high demand
A fuel supplier in Warwickshire has vowed to keep the county's agriculture industry moving in the wake of record prices and shortages.
Rix Oakleys Midlands has prioritised keeping small businesses, farms, homes and organisations across the region supplied with their fuel requirements despite significant threats to the supply chain over the last seven months, according to its director.
Paul Doherty, director of Rix Oakleys Midlands, has reflected on how supply and driver shortages in September 2021 and a spike in demand and price in March 2022 as a result of the Ukraine-Russia conflict have prompted the company to throw its support behind local people and businesses in a bid to ensure the region's agriculture industry can run smoothly.
The sixth-generation family-owned business supplies more than 12,000 business and domestic clients of all sizes across the Midlands, including a host of agricultural businesses and farms across Warwickshire.
Rix will continue its support for the county when it returns for its 11th year as main sponsor of the Kenilworth Show, Warwickshire's largest one-day agricultural show, which heads to Stoneleigh Park Estate on Saturday, June 4.
In addition to the show, Rix also supports the likes of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, and the Warwickshire Young Farmers Club.
Paul said: "While it is vital for any business to acquire new customers and grow, we have had to focus on our community values in the belief that supporting our loyal customers across the region, and particularly its strong farming industry, will help us respond to turbulence effectively and emerge with our long-held values intact.
"Supporting the region has always been a priority for us, hence our continued backing of the Kenilworth Show, which will make its long-awaited return in June.
"The day will be a great chance to speak to friends and clients, celebrating what can be achieved through community effort and a love for agriculture – an industry which our work helps to sustain."
Charlie Weetman, director of the Kenilworth Show, said: "As a member of the region's farming community, Rix Oakleys' support for local people and businesses is crucial.
"They have been a long-term supporter of the show, but their efforts beyond that are vital to the local farming industry, and I am delighted they have responded to these trying times by trusting and investing within the locality."
