Warwick Arts Centre is among thousands of arts venues across the UK to be beneficiaries of money from the Arts Council England's Culture Recovery Fund (CRF).

£257 million was made available across the country, and it was announced today that Warwick Arts Centre would receive £483,000 as part of that.

The director of the arts centre Doreen Foster said on their website "As we continue to prepare for Coventry's year as UK City of Culture, it is wonderful to be able to talk about what we are going to do rather than what we can't do. This funding has changed the conversation.

"We have been closed and silent for six months. This funding means we can start to rekindle our relationships with our visitors, reach out to new audiences and start to bring Warwick Arts Centre to life again."

Under normal circumstances the centre, which opened in 1974, hosts a wide array of live performances, from comedy and theatre, to live music and dance. With the help of this funding it is hoped that this will be able to return from the start of 2021.

Funding will also benefit the local area as well, as freelance artists can be employed once again as the centre returns to some sort of normality.

The timing of the announcement could not be better, as Warwick Arts Centre prepares to unveil a new building next summer as part of the Warwick 20:20 project. This project will add a new gallery, restaurant, foyer and cinema screens.
