Warning over 'real, real problems' if multiple roads are closed around Kenilworth

A lack of communication around local road closures could cause "huge problems" around Kenilworth while the A46 is shut, councillors have warned.
Members at Kenilworth Town Council have once again raised concerns about local road closures happening at the same time, and the impact this could have on motorists.
Speaking at last week's council meeting, Cllr Andrew Milton urged "proactive engagement between HS2 and county highways" to prevent traffic chaos while the dual carriageway remains shut for the rest of April.
"It was interesting this evening coming back from Leamington - where I work - we have another set of roadworks sprung up, which I expect are utilities and emergency repairs," he said.
"Those sorts of things are going to happen over the next three weeks.
"The potential for those to cause carnage is quite frankly, quite high, unless there is some level of agility shown by our colleagues at the county highways."
He continued: "They have really got their arms around this.
"While they may have a plan, I think we have seen this evening that when there is an unexpected blockage on a road, it could cause real, real problems."
Councillors also pointed to the fact a large number of resurfacing works have been announced for side roads in Kenilworth during the A46 closure - thought to be timed for the Easter holidays.
Cllr Adrian Marsh said a particular request had been made to HS2 and the county council to communicate and be proactive around road closures at the latest forum meeting between them.
But he added: "I have noticed that a number of sites have appeared around the town, where works are appearing around the town.
"The sad thing is, it's another example of the failure of the team to coordinate amongst themselves and address the concerns about the damage that could cause during this period."
