'Scallywags' have reportedly taken a set of signs telling HS2 drivers not to head through Kenilworth town centre.

Cllr Richard Dickson reported the 'No HS2 Traffic' signs at the St John's and Thickthorn roundabouts had gone missing, meaning lorries were once again heading along Warwick Road, which they are not supposed to do.

"In the last 24 hours we have had to report to HS2 that the signs at St John's gyratory and the Thickthorn roundabout saying HS2 vehicles are not allowed to drive up Warwick Road, have disappeared," he said at last week's Kenilworth Town Council meeting.

"This got reported to HS2's community engagement team who described the people who took the signs as 'scallywags' and said new signs were already in place.

"On checking whether that was the case, we found out it was not, and it was reported again back to HS2.

"They said 'they have been ordered'.

"So we continue to get HS2 vehicles driving through the town centre, which is a source of great frustration."
