Works around the A46 at Stoneleigh have been pushed back until next week, an update from Kenilworth Town Council has confirmed.

The bridge over the dual carriageway will now be closed between the two slip roads from Monday (11 March) until Sunday (17 March).

This is to allow for new lighting columns to be installed by Warwickshire County Council.

Works were due to start this week, but have reportedly been pushed back due to "contractor unavailability".

The closure will be in place 24 hours a day.

Stoneleigh Road was closed for over two months last winter as works on the bridge continued to be delayed.

The closure means anyone wishing to travel south on the A46 from the University of Warwick must now pass through Kenilworth to reach the dual carriageway.

The £38 million project may now not be finished until later this year, WCC has also confirmed to Nub News.

The project to build a new bridge and roundabout at the A46 junction has been hit by major delays.

Originally planned to be complete in summer 2022, the major scheme has been slowed by "various issues" including supply problems.
