Trial to fix Castle Farm parking problems

Local sports groups are to run a six-week trial to try and fix parking problems at Kenilworth's Castle Farm Recreation Centre.
The problem of "dangerous" parking on the roads around the leisure centre has been a persistent issue - particularly on Saturdays - since the facility opened, with councillors continually calling for a solution.
Providing an update at the most recent Kenilworth Town Council meeting, Cllr Andrew Milton said a meeting had finally been held between officers at Warwick District Council and the groups which use the centre and its playing fields on a regular basis.
"For a long time we have been encouraging district council officers to engage with the local sports clubs and the local leagues, with [site operator] Everyone Active as well," he said.
"I am pleased to say they have done that and the sports clubs themselves have done a great job of working together to find some solutions.
"The upshot is that there will be a new system trial where the clubs will take on more responsibility for managing their parking.
"They are going to do that for six weeks to see whether we can accommodate the amount of traffic that is needed in the right way.
"It has involved some shifting around of kick off times."
The lack of sufficient parking at Castle Farm was raised multiple times during the planning process for the new leisure centre.
'Castle Farm Kenilworth Neighbour Group' said at the time the parking surveys were based on inaccurate information and said the new facility was "wholly inadequate" for the amount of traffic.
