Openreach has said it is not possible to provide a temporary internet or phone service to the homes along Farmer Ward Road which remain without connection after a telegraph pole was brought down in a crash last week.
The incident - which saw a 47-year-old man from Kenilworth on suspicion of drink driving - happened on 14 August, with the pole near the junction with Thornby Avenue felled.
It is still yet to be replaced, meaning the bungalows and houses nearby have been left without network connection, with the pole still to be replaced.
Openreach had said last week it hoped to provide a temporary solution, but today (August 27) said this is no longer possible.
A spokesperson for Openreach said: “We’re in the process of getting this pole replaced, which is taking a longer than we’d originally hoped.
"We understand how disruptive it is to be without broadband.
"Replacing a pole requires specialist teams and equipment and we’ll be carrying out this work as quickly as possible, using traffic management to keep our engineers safe.
“We’ve tried to put a temporary service in place, but unfortunately it’s technically not possible here.”
Local councillor Richard Dickson has continued to press for a solution, and has raised concerns that elderly residents are left vulnerable without a phone connection.
"Residents' lives are being seriously disrupted by the loss of their phone line for more than one week already," he said to Nub News.
"I've been in contact with Openreach several times in the past few days to remind them that residents are trusting that this problem is sorted ultrafast."
A timeline is still yet to be given for the repair.
