Multiple events announced as Independent Bookshop Week comes to Kenilworth
By James Smith 12th Jun 2026
A host of events is coming to town this June to mark Independent Bookshop Week 2026.
Kenilworth Books was recently named as one of 20 'Bookshop Champions' across the country, backing the campaign to get people reading and shopping local.
And as Independent Bookshop Week gets underway on Saturday (June 13), the Talisman Square store has announced a range of literary events.
Locals can help celebrate the start of the week tomorrow at the launch event with a day of traditional games, fun giveaways, and a special guest.
Children's author Skye McKenna will be taking over the counter at Kenilworth Books to chat, sell books, and sign copies.
This will then be followed on Wednesday (June 17) with a special 'book quiz' at The Station House from 7pm to 9pm.
Entry is just £5 for teams of up to six people.
All the proceeds will go to Kenilworth Community Gardeners charity.
The events continue on Friday (June 19) as Fran Hill heads to Kenilworth Books for a signing session.
Fran is the author behind Cuckoo in the Nest, and will be in the shop signing copies and chatting with readers.
While Independent Bookshop Week ends the next day, Kenilworth Books is stretching out the events with its latest Book Club Q&A on Wednesday 24 June with special guest Hattie Williams.
Deborah Texeira of Kenilworth Books said: "Independent bookshops are more than a place that sells books - they are vital cultural anchors that aim to transform towns into vibrant, connected communities.
"They serve as essential hubs for reading for pleasure, sparking lifelong curiosity and local engagement through curated discovery and human connection.
"During Independent Bookshop Week your support ensures these vital spaces continue to grow and inspire.
"At Kenilworth Books, we live for that personal touch.
"We don't just stock shelves; we curate with heart, offering bespoke recommendations, hosting energised events, and championing local initiatives. By shopping indie, you're investing in your community."
First launched in 2006, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Independent Bookshop Week campaign, run by the Booksellers Association.
The Association said the 20 Bookshop Champions "reflect the breadth and depth of independent bookshops today, and the shared values and strengths that underpin the sector".
