Kenilworth Books has announced a series of events this December as the independent shop gears up for Christmas.

The Talisman Square bookshop is one of a number of businesses in the town centre taking part in the late night Thursday openings and Sunday shopping initiative.

Multiple businesses across the town centre have been backing the Shop Kenilworth scheme which is aiming to boost support for local indies this festive period.

And having already had alpacas in Talisman Square to kick-start the Sunday openings, and hosted TV's Alexander Armstrong on Wednesday, Kenilworth Books has a host of other events coming up over the coming weeks.

"We are really excited about the events coming up in the shop over the next few weeks," owner Judy Brook told Nub News.

"We have lots of fantastic authors joining us to offer bookish gift recommendations, sign copies of their books and meet readers.

"And of course we will be open until 7pm every Thursday until Christmas - perfect for locals to come down and do some Christmas shopping after work!"

This week the Kenilworth Books team has Lizzie Lee signing copies of her latest novel 'The Cotswolds Christmas Café' on Thursday (4 December).

Following that, John Watson will be in the independent bookshop on Saturday signing copies of his new work 'Delves'. Each chapter of the work includes a clue to locate one of seven hidden delves across Warwickshire!

And on Sunday, popular children's author Julia Rawlinson will be at Kenilworth Books to meet locals, make snowflakes and to share her stories of 'Fletcher and the Snowflake Christmas' and 'Fletcher and the Stars' which are both in her Fletcher the Fox series.

"Our Thursday and Sunday shopping have already got off to a great start this Christmas," Judy added.

"There's lots on in store for people to enjoy over the next few weeks.

"And with many Kenilworth businesses backing Shop Kenilworth and the Thursday late night shopping, it is the perfect chance to come and back local businesses and buy some fantastic gifts for your loved ones."
