A Kenilworth opticians is encouraging customers and the wider community to participate in a fundraising cake sale and "name the teddy" competition to raise funds for a local children's charity in May.

The Specsavers team will be hosting the cake sale at the store, 17 The Square, on Friday 3 May and a 'name the teddy' competition during the half term school break from Friday 24 May to Friday 31 May in aid of Action for Children.

Proceeds collected from cake sale donations and 'name the teddy' entries, which are a suggested donation of £1 per entry, will be given to the Action for Children Kenilworth home who provide local children and young people with practical and emotional support.

"We feel incredibly passionate about the work that Action for Children do for the young people in our local community, and we are all really excited about raising money through these fundraising events," says Ambreena Bhatti, store director at Kenilworth Specsavers.

Anyone wanting to enter the 'name the teddy' competition can visit the store and place a £1 bid on the name they think is correct.

The person who guesses the correct name of the teddy will take the teddy home as a prize and the winner will be announced after Friday 31 May.

"Whether people want to purchase a sweet treat from the cake sale or have a go at guessing the name of our in-store teddy, we want to encourage both customers and the wider community to visit us in store and come together to raise as much money as possible for Action for Children," adds Ambreena.

Action for Children is a not-for-profit organisation who protect and support children and young people by providing emotional and practical support.
