A Kenilworth opticians is inviting customers to tell them why their dad, or dad-figure, is so special in a bid to raise funds for a local children's charity this Father's Day, Sunday 16 June.

The Specsavers team at The Square are running the competition to raise funds for Action for Children and will be giving away a free pair of designer single vision glasses to the lucky winner.

The money raised will go towards helping to provide a residential short break service in Kenilworth to disabled children and young people between five and 18 years of age.

They are encouraging both customers and the local community to visit staff in store to tell them why their father, or father-figure, means so much to them.

The competition will run from 7 to 21 June and entry forms are available in store.

"Everyone is really looking forward to meeting more of the local the community and hearing about some of the amazing people that play a special role in their lives," says Ambreena Bhatti, store director at Specsavers Kenilworth.

"We've been working with Action for Children for a while, so we're all really excited to continue supporting their amazing work this Father's Day."

Each nomination has a suggested donation of £1 which will be donated to the local charity. To enter the raffle, entrants must have an in-date eye test.

The prize is a pair of single vision glasses, but the winner can upgrade this for an extra cost.

The Father's Day competition follows previous efforts to raise funds for Action for Children which have included a 'name the teddy' competition and cake sale.
