Top comedians heading to Kenilworth for return of popular stand-up night
By James Smith 22nd Apr 2026
Organisers are expecting yet another sell-out night as Kenilworth's new comedy evening returns to the mainstage.
Compere and organiser Harry Jenkins is bringing more top stand up comedians to the Talisman Theatre this May.
The event on May 2 will again be compered by Harry, with Darren Harriott - seen on Live at the Apollo - headlining the night after sets from Leicester Comedy Festival Silver Stand-up winner, Kevin Daniel, Midlands Breaking Talent nominee, Abbie Hale and Ricky Gervais Spirit of Comedy Finalist and British comedian of the year finalist, Ravi Saini.
Ahead of the event, Harry told Nub News: "Darren is brilliant, he has done everything, he has got his own radio show on WM, has done Live at the Apollo three or four times, all the TV shows and he is great.
"Kevin Daniel I know quite well from the circuit, he is moving at quite a quick rate and last year won the Leicester Comedy Festival 'silver stand-up' award which is for people over the age of 45.
"He is great and really lovely.
"Ravi Saini is quite new, but I have seen him a few times and I really rate him, so I have started booking him for things that I run.
"He has definitely got it, he is smart and can read a room way better than acts who have been going longer than him.
"Abbie Hale I met for the first time in the final of a competition called the Midlands Breaking Talent, she and I were both nominated for that.
"She is great, she is really talented. She plays a character act which is great."

Following two sell-out shows in the venue's foyer, the event moved to the mainstage last August and repeated the feat in November, with both being hailed a "great success".
And with the great reception from locals, Harry has been asked to bring more comedy to Kenilworth.
"Last year was amazing," Harry continued.
"I love the Talisman, they and the people in Kenilworth are the loveliest people.
"It was a really good night and I think everyone left thinking they had a good time."
He added: "And now the team wants to book three more dates for this year.
"This is the first of a few dates.
"We haven't had a show yet that hasn't sold out, the feedback has been really good."
Born and bred in Birmingham, the Kenilworth show also brings Harry back to where his comedy career took off.
Having performed once as a teenager in Moseley, he took to the stage again in 2022 at The Royal Pug in Leamington Spa after a "bottle of malbec" encouraged him to sign up for a five minute set.
As well as performing in venues nationwide, promoting gigs has also taken off for him and he now runs the hugely popular Comedy at the Castle shows at Warwick Castle and elsewhere in the country.
And when asked what makes him keep coming back to the Talisman, Harry said: "Honestly, it is such a nice crowd.

"You often get a good gauge for it, at the start of any gig, that it may be a hard night, but they are just lovely people in Kenilworth and they are there for a good time.
"They have got a nice gauge of what is funny, they are not uptight, they don't take themselves too seriously and they are there to have a good time."
He continued: "The best rooms for comedy are always rooms where people feel like they are on top of each other, they are kept in, the lighting is good, the sound is good, and the Talisman fits all those boxes.
"The laughter holds really well in there and you can feel it in there. It is just a joy to be there."
Tickets for the show on May 2 cost just £15 and are selling fast.
And when asked what he would say to encourage new comedy fans to come and give the show a try, Harry said: "Stand up is huge, people have never been as in to stand up as they are now.

"If you have never been to stand up before, just come and give it a go.
"This is a really nice gig, I'm not the kind of person who is going to scold people on the front row - it's not that sort of night.
"The acts are all great, it's going to be a really lovely evening.
"And why not come and support your local gig - it's £15, it's a whole night and the beer is cheap!"
