NHS services around Kenilworth have been made 'Veteran Aware' to help improve care for current and former service people and their families.

As well as improving care for veterans, Veteran Aware trusts aim to make it easier for veterans to find a career with them in order to break down health inequalities.

Having received the award, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust will now focus on training and informing staff on caring for members of the armed forces, as well as ensuring any veterans are signposted to extra services that they can benefit from.

The trust's managing director, Anne Coyle, said: "Being "Veteran Aware" is about removing disadvantages so that members or previous members of the Armed Forces and their families get the same access to services as the civilian community.

"Our Trust is committed to breaking down the barriers of health inequalities and providing outstanding care to everyone within the community we serve.

"I am honoured our trust has been acknowledged for this dedication and recognised as an exemplar organisation for providing the very best care to veterans."
