The A46 will be closed on a number of dates this summer and autumn for works around Warwick.

Due to start on Tuesday 29 July, the scheme will see a series of maintenance works carried out on the bridge near Guys Cliffe.

"Once complete, road users will benefit from a safer, smoother road whilst reducing the need for future maintenance," National Highways said.

To install and remove the traffic management for the for the first phase of work, the following closures will be in place:

  • 29 July, 30 July, 31 July, 1 August, and 12 September – A46 southbound closed between Kenilworth and Leek Wootton, 8pm to 5am.
  • 18 September, 19 September, 22 September, 23 September, and 24 October – A46 northbound closed between Budbrooke and Leek Wootton, 8pm to 5am

During the closures, there will be fully signed diversions in place.

To complete the second phase of work, the traffic management will be installed:

Throughout the second phase there will be a small diversion through the junction at Leek Wootton using the A46 exit and entry slip roads.

Works will include re-waterproofing of the bridge, replacing bridge joints, resurfacing and safety barrier repairs.

"To carry out the work safely and reduce disruption, most of the work will be carried out under narrow lanes reducing the impact to the road user," National Highways continued.

"To maintain safety, there will also be a reduced speed limit of 60mph along with speed enforcement."
