Spectators will be able to buy beers pitchside at Kenilworth Rugby Football Club if plans are signed off by the district council.

The Glasshouse Lane outfit has applied for permission to vary its alcohol licence, asking for the whole site to be included under the permissions, not just the clubhouse.

If approved, the new licence would allow KRFC to sell alcohol through pop-up bars, which it says would be set up either within the beer garden or on the north side of the main pitch.

The club also plans to be allowed to provide music for match day events.

And it hopes the new licence would also include the KENFEST family-friendly beer festival - which was run for the first time this year - to sell alcohol and play music in a fenced-off area on the main pitch.

The application to Warwick District Council also seeks to remove the current clause to its licence - "Members of the public are only permitted into the club by invitation and must be signed in by an existing member".

Locals have until October 16 to have their say on the plans.

The full application can be seen here.
