Disgruntled residents around the new Kenilworth School are still waiting for action to stop daily parking "congestion" caused by parents dropping off their children.

Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) is pressing its county colleagues for details of a much-delayed survey aimed to reduce inconsiderate parking on roads around the Glasshouse Lane school.

Many residents have complained since the school opened in September 2023 that parents have been using the neighbouring roads to drop off their children, causing significant disruption.

Warwickshire County Council - which has also come under fire for not completing the road safety measures around the school before it opened - is still being pressed for details on the parking survey.

"Residents around the school are very concerned that parents and guardians dropping children at the school tend to park their over-large vehicles in front of people's driveways, and cause congestion and noise," Cllr James Kennedy said at the most recent KTC meeting.

"The county council has committed to doing a survey and put in measures to prevent that disruptive parking.

"But we are still waiting for that. It was scheduled before Christmas."

The county council told Nub News it is "in the process of finalising the parking restriction details" and said these are hoped to be advertised "shortly".

Town councillors and Kenilworth School have continued to press for better safety measures around the school, with a new crossing recently completed on Knowle Hill.

KTC is leading an assessment into safety around the school which is due to be finished in March.

Cllr Kennedy welcomed the progress that had been made but said there is "a lot still to be done".
